It could be one of the best VR games out if they updated the game with those changes and made the VR more like the interactions in the BFG Mod and used other standard VR practices.DOOM 2016 Free Download new and updated version for PC Windows.

There are more things that need to be done with VFR, but those are the main ones that come to mind after playing it. The gun angles are better in the BFG mod than in VFR. The Doom 3 BFG mod also uses head tracking more it seems, as you can do stuff like physically crouch to crouch in game (there is a button for crouching too for those without the room or ability to crouch). Personally I prefer smooth locomotion/turning combined with room scale as it really can maximize use of a room scale setup and maximize virtual presence (which differs from physical presence to which most people refer).ĭoom VFR has teleport as an ability done well, but really needs the option on the PC version for smooth movement (PSVR seems to have it for some reason.).ĭash movement in VFR is alright, but really needs to remove the click to confirm dash, otherwise it's not bad.

In some room scale games teleporting feels fine due to the design and flow of combat, but you'll need at least a 3x3m space to really make it feel natural, because you'll use the teleport for larger movement and room scale for the more minor movements making it feel less clunky however, a vast majority of users have a much smaller spaces than 3x3m, so most games can't be designed for that without being oriented to the likes of a VR arcade or a very much smaller part of the market. Using it as an ability for secondary movement is perfectly fine (especially when combined with slow motion and/or other modifiers). Teleporting just feels clunky when used as a primary method of movement like you are just lurching along. I personally prefer smooth movement and turning. The Fully Possessed mod for Doom 3 BFG also does VR right by including multiple forms of locomotion. Its just really annoying and immersion breaking. In the BFG Mod, you just reach out and press the button you want like you would in real life. When you hop on the elevator for instance, you reach out to interact with the panel to activate the elevator, but it feels like you should just be able to press the button (they have you reach out to it and everything like you would.), instead you see the laser pointer activate and have to pull the trigger to press the button. The hand interaction is probably my main gripe about the VFR (aside from needing a smooth movement option). The Fully Possessed mod on the other hand has you just reach out and press the button in menus, displays, and switches like you're using a touchscreen in real life. The Doom 3 BFG Fully Possessed mod has AAA quality VR and is what VFR needs to be.ĭoom VFR still uses a laser pointer and then a "click" to navigate menus and activate switches in game.
